Another year older, another year wiser…Well it’s my birthday, and I’m 24! I’m not one to be overly excited about my own, more so for everyone else’s. The only thing I ever really want is to be on a beach or traveling, which I have been for the past 5 years, and although it wasn’t possible for a tropical vacation this year, I did manage to book a weekend away and have a surprise trip to LA this month thanks to my amazing roommate.
Yes, those worrying thoughts we get as we get older of how my life isn’t where I had planned it to be at this age, or that marriage isn’t in my near future, or that I haven’t been to Africa to volunteer, but the truth is life doesn’t have a plan. It’s when you let go of the idea that every moment in your life is supposed to happen at a specific point, that all those dreams and goals begin to unfold in ways you never though possible. I may not be on the sunny shores of Jamaica with my best friend, but I will be in her wedding next year, and I know the chance to see the world is ahead of me! This past year I’ve learned a lot about myself, had many new experiences, and I’m in a position in my career that will only bring me great opportunities to make all my dreams come true. Life is beautiful, and I’m going to savor every second of it!
