MyFoxChicago: A 17-year-old boy was killed and at least 34 other people have been wounded in shootings across Chicago so far this weekend.
About 11 p.m. Friday, the boy, later identified as Torri Williams, and a 20-year-old man were in the 6400 block of South Justine when a male got out of a passing white Cadillac and shot them, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Williams, of the 9000 block of South Laflin, was shot in the chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:52 p.m., authorities said. The 20-year-old was shot in the arm and taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
The most recent nonfatal shooting left a 19-year-old man seriously injured in Belmont Central on the Northwest Side early Sunday. About 1:20 a.m., he was walking outside in the 2100 block of North Mulligan when a car pulled up and a gunman got out and started firing, police said. He was shot in the chest and taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in serious condition. Police think the shooting might have been gang-related.
That attack was part of an hourlong spate of early Sunday gunfire that saw three other men critically wounded in separate shootings on the West Side.
Just after 1 a.m. in Humboldt Park, a 29-year-old man was outside in the 4400 block of West Augusta when a gunman walked out of a gangway and opened fire, striking him repeatedly in the abdomen, police said. He was taken to Norwegian American Hospital and later transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
At 12:40 a.m., a 20-year-old man heard shots and felt pain in Austin’s 4800 block of West Walton, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.
About 12:15 a.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in the head in Lawndale. He was walking down the street in the 1200 block of South St. Louis when a gunman walked out of a gangway and opened fire, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition.
Late Saturday, two boys were shot in West Englewood on the South Side. The boys, ages 12 and 15, were walking in the 6700 block of South Winchester about 9:40 p.m. when they heard gunfire and felt pain, police said. The 12-year-old was shot in the leg and the 15-year-old was shot in the buttocks. Both were taken in good condition to Comer Children’s Hospital, police said.
At least 27 other people have been shot across the city since 9:30 p.m. Friday.
