Hello everyone, I hope all is well with you. I’m back today after a week of working, writing, and running. I’m so excited about my writing journey. I feel the stories I’ve been working on are my best work, and I’m proud of them. But enough about that.

Today, I want to talk about the mass shooting that occurred in Minneapolis MN. It’s such a tragic event. I can only imagine how the parents of the victims must feel. According to the news, the shooter was full of hate. She didn’t have any raging mental illness, at least one that could be detected in her everyday life.

She was a transgender individual identifying as a woman, and she obtained her firearms legally.
This is so sad because it didn’t have to happen. We need to as a society accept all individuals as they are. Disconnection is the underlying common factor in all mass shootings. The shooter feels disconnected from their family, from their school, and from society.

Not only do these shooters feel disconnected, but I’m also drawing the conclusion, they feel rejected. Rejected by society, and when someone feels rejected, they’re hurt and angry. We need to bring back our communities and include everyone. The advances in technology are great, but they are creating a disconnection that has drastic consequences.

Mass shootings are on the rise. Most of the shooters are white males, and the average age is around thirty-four years old. We need to remember that the shooter didn’t wake up one day and say to himself. “I want to shoot up the school.” They planned their attack in detail. It could take years to bring this kind of shooting to fruition.
As always, I think of prevention. How do we prevent this kind of thing from happening? The only answer that comes to me is Gun Control. I know. I know. A lot of the Second Amendment enthusiasts out there are throwing their hands up and screaming, but it is the only answer.

Until we can predict who the shooters are, we need to limit who has access to guns. No citizen needs an automatic rifle or an Uzi. We need stronger gun controls to stop these events, and more inclusive communities. How about you? What do you think needs to be done? Leave a comment! I’d love to hear from you!
