Angel Olsen Releases Second Track from Upcoming Deluxe Edition [stream]

Listening to Angel Olsen’s “May As Well” further solidifies that there’s just something magical about her voice. This year’s Burn Your Fire For No Witness showcased a more full-bodied, grungier side of the singer-songwriter whose work up to that point was mostly barren folk that held its potency in its bone scraping ache. Olsen’s switch up pulled off quite a feat, winning over a whole new more rock-oriented audience while bringing her already loyal fan base along beside her. In both modes, Angel Olsen’s voice remains powerfully transportive for reasons I still cannot really say. The deluxe edition of Burn Your Fire For No Witness is to be released November 18, but a second bonus track (“All Right Now” was the first) from it was just released. “May As Well” is closer to her initial style in its stripped-down simplicity, but the tone is all Burn Your Fire For No Witness.
