The moment I saw these pages, I wrote to Adonis Durado, Times of Oman and Al Shabiba creative director,  to tell me  more about this unique project.

While most newpapers do cover the Oscars yearly, with emphasis on the winners and the fashion on the red carpet, the effort of the Times of Oman team goes beyond that.  These pages are all a combination of info graphics and design coming together to make the content more accessible and visually appealing .

In Adonis' words:

This graphic series served as a fun and practical exercise for my design staff who wanted to learn infographic. These designers have zero experience in creating an infographic as we have a separate section that takes care of our graphic needs. I saw the Oscars as a good opportunity for them to learn, collaborate and explore.

To set the momentum, I did several of the graphics with the intention of showing various ways in attacking the graphic narrative of my subject. I then assigned them particular award category to tackle, and paired them with illustrator and photographer to help them with their visuals. The goal is to explore interesting style, approach, conceit to visualize the various categories until the announcement of the Oscar winners.
