Recently I acquired the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade courtesy of Beautylish.com. I was really unsure as to which Anastasia Beverly Hills brow product I should try, the Dipbrow is talked about everywhere so I went along and picked that one. I thought I would really like it since I had been using my Maybelline gel liners for my brows and I had be quite pleased with the result of that. I figured it would be a trade up in quality. It is a really nice product....but I wish I would have went with one of the pencils. The Dipbrow is nice but its not really something you can slap on and apply. Though I don't want to give the impression that it is substantially difficult to apply because it's pretty straight forward.
The color is one of the nicest I have used on my brows yet. I wouldn't say it's ashy more of a neutral dark brown it still has a bit of warmth in it but it doesn't give off too much red in the light. Personally I would like something with even more of a cooler/ashy undertone but that is just preference. I did see that they have a Granite shade in both the Brow Wiz and Brow Powder Duo but it wasn't available in Pomade form and I was dead set on trying it out.
I've found my favorite tools for applying the Dipbrow are the real techniques accent brush, ecotools angled eyeliner brush, and/or wayne goss 08.
H O W I A P P L Y :
- First I brush my hairs in place with a spoolie. I brush my hairs off to the side because my eyebrow hairs grow to the middle and thats how they naturally lay. I think it's putting too much work on your self to try to force the hairs to lie against what they naturally want to do. Over trimming areas to compensate for the natural growth pattern just gives a more artificial look to the brows when trying fill them in.
- Powder the brow area with loose or pressed setting powder to absorb and surface oils (best to start with brows, but if your foundation is already applied blot area with a tissue before applying powder)
- I start off applying with my real techniques accent brush to get the body of my shape in. Starting from middle to tail and doing the front last.
- I then move in with either the Wayne Goss 08 or the Ecotools angled eyeliner brush to layer on more product in sparse areas with light strokes.
- Instead of concealer I use foundation to clean up the perimeter of my brow. I prefer this method better because my foundation won't give me a lighter halo around my brows which personally I don't like. I lay down the foundation with the real techniques deluxe crease brush then take a clean concealer brush to smooth it out to avoid a product build up on the edge and it making my brow looked stamped on.

When shopping the Anastasia products I had been thinking more on what was trending and less on what I really wanted in a brow product. So I have nothing and no one to blame but myself for my lack of satisfaction. Even though I'm not totally satisfied with the Pomade I don't plan on returning it because I just don't want to deal with the hassle of that process. Its not a bad product at all and I will continue to use it but it's not a holy grail for me.
Have any of you tried this? If so I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Also if you've found your HG brow filler please let me know. I personally plan to pick up the NYX Brow gel just to try out and some of their brow pencils. I used them and high school and really liked them and I think I'd like to give them a try again.
