On Saturday morning we signed papers to list our beloved home on the market.

It’s been a long process just to get to this point—we’ve been playing tug of war for months. Should we or shouldn’t we? Now or later? Pros vs. cons? Will we regret this in five years?

We talked. We prayed. We argued a little. We prayed some more. We researched.

Oh, the research.

We crunched the numbers.

Oh, the numbers.

Ultimately, the answer slowly became clearer and clearer. It was time. It was time to sell our house, time to move, time for change.

We’re not going far, still here in Sacramento, but hopefully a bit closer to Brett’s job. We made a pact that once we decided to sell our house, we would fully embrace the decision and all that comes with it—good and bad. It’s a weird feeling though, knowing that your house is going to pop up on realtor websites and that random people will be walking through your home deciding if it would be a good place to live.

Sometimes it feels like we’re cheating on our house. Or like we’re giving up on it.

The truth is—we stuck around longer than we thought. This house was never going to be our forever house. Heck, it was never going to be our baby house! And then life happened and it was.

And you know what? This house was good to us.

This week I’ll be sharing some photos and a few special memories from this house, our home, the place where we first became a family of two and eventually a family of three.

(This is the quick upstairs tour: our bedroom, our office, Ev’s nursery, Ev’s bathroom, and our little laundry room.)
