As we rightfully always say that our childhood was the best time. Especially when we see our kids growing, we are forced to think how different our childhood was from theirs. We used to lead simple lives without any modern amenities that children have at their disposal today. But the real fun that we used to have during our childhood days is not to be found anymore in today’s generation.
Roots in Gurgaon reconnects you with the delicious home-style food, sitting in the midst of greenery. The structure and furniture is made of wood, bamboo and other natural material. Interestingly the Café is solar powered and use it for cooking as well.
Situated in the middle of Leisure Valley Park, the best part of the place is that it has enough space for kids to run around.
Our visit to the Cafe …
We visited Roots on 28th December 2017 for celebrating my Aunt’s Birthday. We were 8 Adults with 4 kids in the group. It was a bright sunny afternoon. We reached around 1 PM and after just 20 mins of waiting time, we were allotted a table.
We all may agree that waiting is not easy but here it was fun. Just next to the café entrance, there is the park with swings. We thoroughly enjoyed the swings with the kids and didn’t even realize when the waiting time was over.
They have sitting arrangement both outside and inside. We chose to sit outside as the lush green surrounding was luring us not to go inside and enjoy the wintry afternoon sun.
The waiter came with the menu along with a little notepad and pen. Usually in a big group, it takes time to decide what to order; so the waiter instead requested me jot down whatever we used to order. I really loved their concept where the customer writes down the order on a little notepad which also reduces the chance of wrong ordering/wrong order interpretations.
We ordered Kokum Masala Soda, Pasta, Sabudana fingers, Oreo shake, kathal biryani, besan cheela, egg curry with rice, a veg Thali and palak patta chat. The sweet dish ordered was Kali gajar ka halwa. Pasta, Sabudana fingers and Besan cheela was really enjoyed by the kids.
Everything we ordered was delicious and was nicely served.
Post we were done with our lunch we ordered Masala Chai. It was like the Cherry on the cake. We also did the cake cutting for my Aunt and I would say that the staff was very well behaved and were cordial.
The café has given me so many reasons to visit it again, starting with the ambience, the quality of food and most importantly their service. So the next time you look for a place serving delicious food with a serene environment to hang out with family or friends, I would definitely ‘root for Roots’.
