Amazon Inc., the American online retail giant is now looking to speed up its’ delivery service by replacing their human delivery staff with futuristic drones. The company is already testing these unmanned drones that are capable of picking a package and delivering it to locations around the country in just 30 minutes.
According to CBS News who had a chat with Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos, this project is still in its’ earliest stages and could take up to 4 or 5 years to launch commercially, as the company awaitFAA approval. Amazon has named these droned “Octocopter” and its’ delivery service will be called “Prime Air.”
“The goal of this new delivery system is to get packages into customers’ hands in 30 minutes or less using unmanned aerial vehicles,” Amazon states on its Prime Air website. “Putting Prime Air into commercial use will take some number of years as we advance the technology and wait for the necessary FAA rules and regulations.”

Delivering goods using Drones is no wonder these days, as we’ve already seen them doing far more complicated tasks. Somehow, they always stayed indoors and experimental over the years. Although, when a tech giant like Amazon with massive wealth gets involved with a project like this, we can expect to see these drones outside our doorstep sooner than we’ve thought.
Amazon posted a cool video to show off the stunts of this Octocopter and its’ capabilities. You can check it out after the jump.
