Amazing Meadow of ‘Frost Flowers’ Appears in the Arctic Ocean

This magical scenery is not a still from a fantasy movie, it’s very real. Jeff Bowman and a biology team at University of Washington spotted this nature’s phenomenal occurrence while they were heading back from the North Pole.

As Bowman describes it, these things made of ice called “Frost flowers” started appearing out of nowhere when the dawn broke. Then those things were everywhere.

“I was absolutely astounded,” said Jeff Bowman. “Like a meadow spreading off in all directions. Every available surface was covered with them.”

As you can see in the pictures it is truly a stunning scene to see with your own eyes. These pictures were taken on September 2nd, 2009 and was reported by a NPR blog back in 2012, however the astonishing beauty of this nature’s creation never seems gets old.
