Alt-J loves you. They love you so much that they titled their sophomore album This Is All Yours because, it is, in fact, all for you. It’s in that spirit that Alt-J looked upon it’s huddled masses this morning and saw that lo- they were sad that the long weekend was over and they took pity. The newest track is the second teaser for the full length that’s due 9/22, and it’s basically as far from the first release, “Hunger of the Pine”, that a song written by the same group of people in the same basic time frame can get. Where “Hunger of the Pine” is minimalistic, “Left Hand Free” is a traditional rock song, one that sounds far more at home on Alt radio than something that strangely (read: awesomely) samples Miley Cyrus. It’s a chugging, almost blues-y track, that still maintains that experimental Alt-J essence through both little jazz interludes and Joe Newman’s voice. Listen above and silently thank the bevenolance of Alt-J, who gift tracks unto their fans with the greatest of love and the best of timing.
