What is a girl to do?
So I've been reading and so I'm too lazy to do all these book reviews separate, I'm going to be the lazy bum I am and just do MINI reviews. So here we go, first book is:
Ingenue by Jillian Larkin (2011)
My Thoughts: I read Vixen a couple of years ago and I completely forgot how good this series was. And when I saw it at the library I snapped it up. And boy, was I missing out. It didn't capture me as much as Vixen did, but I was still hooked. The story was wonderfully told, made me WISH I lived back then, except with less racism, more LEGAL booze and the short skirts. The characters seemed a bit different from last time and I don't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing. Still left me wanting more though. A great book to get anyone into historical fiction, it didn't even seem like historical fiction to me as I read it. Which is good for me because I really do not like history.
If I Lie by Corrine Jackson (2012)
My Thoughts: I read this book with so many, many things running through my head. I had VERY HIGH expectations for this book and I wasn't let down, but I wasn't LET UP EITHER! Seriously, it took me until the freaking second half of the book to get into it. Okay, well basically its about little Sophie Quinn and her boyfriend Carey, who is gone to war to fight and stuff and before Carey leaves, Sophie is seen making out with a mysterious boy and the whole town finds out and slut shames her. It was a little cliche a bit and I knew what was going on from the start of the book, so that wasn't good. But it was thought provoking and very well told. And very, very compelling.
Speechless By Hannah Harrington
My Thoughts:WOW. Just wow, this book left me just that, speechless. What also stunned me was the cover, the cover is just so simple that it makes me want to know what could be in this book. I more than just loved this book. I DESIRE this book. The character development is fantastic. I really hated our main character, Chelsea, but ended up loving her to pieces later. And Chelsea's friends, Dex, Lou, Asha and Sam. Oh Sam <3I just adore Sam to pieces. I need a Sam in my life. But if you're my boyfriend reading this, you're my Sam.
But anyways, it was a great book. Breathtaking and it kept me focused the whole time while reading it. I read it in one sitting, that's how you know it was good. And so, that is all.
