"When grief comes down a lot, it’s kind of like the El Nino; too much comes, and everything is clogged with the water, and it doesn’t seem like the water is ever going to go away. And yet, there is a way for it to go...down, and out, and up...There are all kinds of ways for it to go. But it’s going to take it’s own sweet time to do it. Just like grief. Grief is a lot like any flood; it’s a flood sorrow and pain that you’re feeling. And you can’t just cry it out. You can’t just force it out. But time itself is going to carry it out. No flood can sustain over time. All floods go. All floods of grief even. And the thing about a flood is surviving it. This is like other floods, isn’t it? And so, it too is limited in time in that way."
