A serious contender for the greatest Christmas song ever made. 'Please Come Home for Christmas' was a 1960 single by blues singer and pianist Charles Brown. It appeared on the Christmas Singles chart for nine seasons, hitting #1 in 1972, and selling over one million copies by 1968.
Charles Brown was playing and recording music as far back as the 1940s, when he was part of the group The Three Blazers. During the 50s, his mellow sound would be a major influence on other blues performers.
Brown died in 1999, the same year he was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame.
