A reinterpretation of the Sly and The Family Stone classic 'Everyday People' by the briefly successful hip hop collective Arrested Development. Taken from their debut album '3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life Of....', the track reached number 2 in the UK singles charts in 1992.The Atlanta group formed in 1988 and were largely credited with the popularity of Southern hip hop. Their sound was conceived as a stark contrast to the gangsta rap that was prominent in the early 90s, with positive, african-flavoured songs focusing on spirituality, peace, unity and love.
They split in 1996, but reformed in 2000 and continue to record and perform with a slightly altered line-up.
