A Thousand Hours: Sleep

A Thousand Hours play slow, ethereal dreampop. Their debut-full-length Sleep is a soothing trip. Red Collier and Demi Haynes, the band's songwriters, follow the course that was set Dead Can Dance, Propaganda and the Cocteau Twins. They honor the latter with a respectful cover of Crushed.

Sleep is an album that should be played in one sitting. Whether they sing abut nautical misadventure in Shipwreck or an artist dreaming about the spotlights in The Understudy, A Thousand Hours make it sound like it not so bad after all. Blame the wavering keyboards of Nadi Mack for entering an alternate state, with Albert Gresens' bass a lifeline to reality. Recommended listening after a stressful day.

A Thousand Hours:
Red Collier: vocals, keyboards, guitar
Demi Haynes: vocals guitar, bass
Albert Gresens: bass
Nadi Mack: synth, vocals
