During my last week in Arizona I managed to style a small retirement party. Parties where the main focus are males, can be somewhat of a challenge, especially when they are nonchalant and pretty much open to anything decor wise, as long as guests are enjoying themselves and have plenty of food and drinks, they’re happy. With the color blue, his love of beer and simple branch inspired images, I choose to bring in different blues, ranging from navy to aqua, with repurposed bottles left naturally brown, painted in white and accented with lightly blue painted branches. I painted round vases on one side with ombre-like stripes, as well as inexpensive frames, which displayed photos and news articles from the retiree’s long career. While the head table displayed a decoupaged canvas, as a small keepsake piece of art. Guests left their well wishes and recommendations for retired life in this old-fashion record book recognizably used at his office, alongside a congratulatory custom painting. Multicolored balloons added a festive and personal touch, with photos hung for guests to reminisce.
