A Riot Jazz Summer of Love – Starring Extra Love, Too Much Love and The Resonators

Posted on the 01 June 2013 by Riotjazz @RiotJazz

And so we beach the final curtain.

Before the Brass-Wielding Troubadours pack their bags with a summer-long supply of valve oil and head to festivals foreign and domestic to play that voodoo that they doo-doo, we must have one last dance.

RIOT JAZZ BRASS BAND

Nuff Said.

EXTRA LOVE

They may not be bigger than hip-hop yet, but we are yet to find a genre that dwarves them. One of Mancsterdam’s finest, funnest and fastest-rising outfits, no show in their hometown has been anything less than packed to the rafters these last 12 moons.

TOO MUCH LOVE

At the core of T.M.L are Vicky and Simi – siblings and songwriting partners who have been playing music together their whole lives. Vicky, weaned on Herbie Hancock, combines rich, soulful vocals with irresistibly groovy keyboard lines, while her brother’s guitar scratches and syncopations lend the music an infectious energy.

Think Quantic, Alice Russell, Fat Freddies Drop, Fela Kuti, Ray Barretto and all that good good shit

All in all – an absolutely killer band.

THE RESONATORS

The exceedingly excellent Brighton Based Dub outfit know how to push your buttons, and will be doing so in a borderline-reckless fashion on the night, with little regard for their own safety.

First time in Mancunia, they will lift the roof off.

FREE FACEPAINTING

You know you love it.

DJ COOPS and RICH REASON on the Dual Gramaphone.
