A Photo Journey of a Weekend in France

By Littlebckpacker @littlebckpacker

The last weekend of February saw me take my first trip abroad for 2015, along with my boyfriend, his mom and step-dad we headed across the Eurotunnel for a weekend of fun in France. They have a place over there and we were lucky enough to join them. After experiencing my first tunnel crossing with a car, we headed for Boulogne to hit the hypermarket. I was so over excited by the supermarket – that is when you can tell you haven’t traveled in a while! Food and drink in France feels so cheap because of how strong the pound is at the moment, I also love exploring the different foods on offer in foreign supermarkets. We must have spent nearly two hours in there….

After the shopping we had a quick pit-stop at this awesome look out point before heading in land to Hesdin towards the house.

The house was located in a hamlet near to the town of Hesdin. The town was your typical French small town with plenty of charm, character and history. It was located in Pas-de-Calais near to the border of Somme.

We spent plenty of the weekend relaxing, eating drinking and the occasional walk around with the dog. Molinel was a beautiful hamlet with each house being completely different to the next. Most of the buildings were older and some need considerable amounts of work but there were also a few new and modern developments, admittedly none of these fitted in. We would see few people in the hamlet and it was that small there was not even a little shop. The peace was perfect for a weekend escape.

It only takes a few hours to travel into France and this surrounding area however you feel like you are a million miles away from England. The space between houses and desolate landscape amplifies this more. It’s made me realize you don’t have to travel for hours and hours to experience a new and fun destination.
