On Friday night I was kindly invited to the press launch of A Most Curious Wedding Fair, when I first heard about it my little ears pricked up with joy… I’m one of those people, the weird ones, who aren’t getting married but secretly loves wedding fairs, I love it when my friends get engaged and we can swan off around the country looking at lots of weddingy things! I do love a good old vintage wedding fair but Most Curious brings something even better to the table, it is the start of a new wave of wedding fairs that throws out the over done and mainstream, and instead show off handpicked companies that are at the top of there game and brings new wedding trends to the discerning bride, oh and Groom (but we all know who’s in charge).
A Most Curious Wedding Fair took up residence last weekend in the Bay Gallery at the ever popular Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. The space was amazing and seemed to go on forever, there were 3 different rooms packed with stalls, a catwalk, a band and there were even branded cupcakes and beer from Little Brew (p.s it was super strong).
Now I have to say I loved pretty much all of the stalls that were there but I don’t want to go on and on forever so I have picked my top 5(ish) from the night.
Garland & Garter
These actually made me go weak at the knees and the stall was exquisite, it drew me in like some sort of vintage magpie! Emma who studied fashion was amazing and was even wearing on of her garters with her business cards tucked inside.
Garland & Garter is based in cambridge, England and was inspired by our very own duchess of Cambridge’s stunning lace wedding gown, how’s that for the best of british!
I can honestly say if you looking for a garter for your big day or a snazzy (none tacky) hen party gift Garland & Garter has you covered.
Ellsewhere Bride and Joelle Reeves Millinery
There were a lot of hat/headwear stalls at the fair and they were all very lovely, hence why I couldn’t only pick one. These two beauties were my favourite, Joelle Reeves Millinery had a cute little small manned by two lovely ladies. The hats and fascinators were so beautiful I was stopped in my tracks and all I wanted to do was try them all on, these were perfect for brides or even guests at an elegant affair.
Ellsewhere Bride was a little different, their hats are more on the outlandish side, I mean one of them was a badger, which Natalie had sculpted from silicone. These are a must see and she has even made some for Kate Winslet, which I like to imagine her and her family wear around the house, can you imagine… So cute!
You and Me Wedding/Eternity Rings
These were just so cute and an amazing alternative to a jewelry store bought ring. The rings are moulded from your loved one’s finger, “so you are always holding hands,” awww.
The interior of the finished ring has a continuous impression of your partner’s finger while the out side is smooth and polished so only you know (we all love a secret).
Beth from London Dolls was just at the fair for the press launch painting nails, but she specialises in Long lasting, expert eyelash extensions which she applies to your own natural lashes. I love these and will most definitely be getting them done for my next holiday (no mascara stains in the pool). Beth was probably the best dressed person at the fair in her cute vintage skirt and a vintage style apron her mom had made, Mam if your reading take note! hehe.
Beth painted my nails an amazing shade of pink and told me about some amazing sounding bars in Dalson, Watch this space!
