A Hydrating Sunscreen: Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Review

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

Summer season or not, there's always a new sunblock I review. Most of them are for oily skin like me, but actually, majority of facial sunscreens I encounter are more suitable for those with dry skin. I just don't feature most of them because I didn't use them long enough to write a proper review for it. But this one, I definitely did use it long enough and I also got some help from my mother who absolutely love this sunscreen. She says it's the best one she used in a long time for her dry skin. Curious now? Scroll down to read my Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence review.

WHAT IS IT?

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence is a cooling water based sunscreen with SPF50+ PA++++. It has Aqua Micro Capsules with UV block ingredients to provide superior sun protection while keeping skin cool and refreshed. Enriched with moisture-binding and skin-plumping Hyaluronic acid, it contains citrus essence to hydrate and smoothen skin. The water-based texture absorbs fast in to the skin that doesn't leave a white residue.

INGREDIENTS

Besides the Hyaluronic Acid, the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence also contains Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, and Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract which are bad for sensitive skin because they may cause irritation. You can read more about its ingredient analysis in Skin Carisma.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: Apply evenly on face after moisturizer and before applying makeup.

SCENT: This one has very mild citrusy scent. Good for those who are "scentsitive".

PACKAGING: It is packed as is with just plastic and a cardboard sticking on its back. I like it, less trash.

TEXTURE: The texture of this sunscreen resembles the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, it's a really light gel.

RESULT: As much as I love that it doesn't leave a white cast and it absorbs fast into my skin, it has a really dewy texture. Too much for someone who has an oily skin and lives in a warm humid country. However, when I gave this to my mom, she loves it and always scared to run out of this sunscreen. She likes it like how I like it but she also said it feels really hydrating for her dry skin.

If you have oily skin like me, I recommend the Biore UV Perfect Face Milk instead, or the Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence which is my ultimate favorite sunscreen of the moment.

VERDICT

PROS: It contains SPF50 (the right amount for those countries near the equator aka tropical countries). It is lightweight, absorbs fast into the skin, does not leave a white cast. Plus, it's also moisturizing and hydrating. Perfect for those with dry skin.

CONS: Too dewy for those with oily skin, and contains citrus extracts that can cause irritation for those with sensitive skin.
