Dorset based Ace Energy have just completed the installation of the first fuel cell micro combined heat and power system in Wales.

The electricity generating system called BlueGen was installed for Rhondda Cynon Taff local authority at one of their Homes For The Elderly in Mountain Ash.

The system will produce around 13,000 units of low cost – low carbon electricity while also producing up to 200 litres of hot water each day free of charge. The system is also eligible for FITS payments and when all the benefits are added together the home should be £2,500 better off each year which is great news for the elderly residents who struggle to pay their energy bills.

The installation took Ace Energy just 2 days to complete and now Rhondda Cynon Taff are keen to install BlueGen at all of their care homes and are also considering rolling out the product to their comprehensive schools.
