A Dozen Questions with Dad – Dallas Smith

By Phjoshua @thereviewsarein

Maybe you know as an award-winning, chart-topping Canadian country artist or maybe you remember him as the lead singer of the Juno-winning rock group . Today though, we're here to introduce him as a dad.

The B.C. native is dad to two (a teen son and a young daughter) with a third on the way, and this week we caught up with him to learn a little bit about his daddy life and what it looks like.

Before we get into it, I need to point out that I'm especially happy to present this post, because my daddy life has been tied to Dallas since the early moments of Ollie's life. In my first time alone with him, before he was officially named even, I found myself swaying and pacing while holding him and singing Dallas' Sky Stays This Blue and The Tragically Hip's Wheat Kings. It was calm and I was happy. I think Sky Stays This Blue came to me because of the video, with Dallas and his daughter Vayda together and happy too.

Check out the tweet about those early moments and the music video now.

Honoured to be apart of that 1st moment Josh. Enjoy those moments buddy. It all flies by way too quick. https://t.co/LoWmjUmONW

Dallas Smith - Sky Stays This Blue

Dallas recently released his fourth full-length country album Timeless, that has already produced five #1 singles, bringing his career total to 10, with an astonishing 9 in a row. It's quite a feat for a Canadian artist. He's also up for four Canadian Country Music Association awards (September 27, 2020) including Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Fans' Choice, Single of the Year.

Thanks to Dallas for taking the time to answer the dad questions. I've had the chance to talk to him more than a couple of times over the last few years (including a great call last week that became this feature: ) but this is the more dad talk we've ever had.
