A Day In Edinburgh

By Hollysbeautybox @hollysbeautybox
Last week, I spent a day in Edinburgh and thought I'd share my experience of Auld Reekie (Edinburgh's nickname!).

First of all, I'm a little bit biased. I love Edinburgh, it's one of my favorite cities in the whole world. Granted, I’ve not exactly visited every city in the world but from the ones I have (New York, Prague, Toronto, Florida etc) Edinburgh tops the list.
I live roughly 2 hours away from Scotland’s capital, so I am fortunate to visit every few weeks.
Edinburgh is dripping with history, culture and architecture so if those are your thing, it’s definitely the city for you.
The city is notoriously extremely busy during the summer months and in my experience is quietest in February. I’d thoroughly recommend visiting for the entertainment side in the summer months (the fringe festival is on!) and historical tourist attractions during February when you can avoid queues and really take your time to view things.
I went to Edinburgh castle last week. I regularly go there - maybe twice a year - to refresh my memory on its history and to be honest, it’s beautiful, there’s nothing not to love....
... except for those bloody hills. Edinburgh is a hilly area and without doubt will fill your Fitbit steps for the day just by wandering around. The streets are cobbled which isn’t ideal but it looks so artistic and vintage that it’d be wrong to change it. (With that said, there is plenty of wheelchair access should you require it.)

Everywhere you go, there's something to see or do. After visiting the castle and wandering around the royal mile for a while, I stomped off to Primark. It is the best one i've ever visited. It has four floors and is MASSIVE. I'm never disappointed when I go.

I bought a few bits when I was there so might do a haul or include it in a video? What do you think?
I'm tempted to write a 'visitors guide' to Edinburgh with everything from places to park, hotels, travel, shops, dining, activities & entertainment. Is this something you'd like to read?

Have you visited Edinburgh?
