A Charming Simple and Quick Thanksgiving Table

By Thedreamery

IMG_6486When I don’t have much time to develop a concept for a table or arrange a centerpiece, I always go with neutrals and decor pieces I can find around the house or in my garden. Some may see it as too simple, but layers of whites, gray, and flesh tones pair elegantly with any color. With touches of gold or silver, you can transform basic pieces, into a charming Thanksgiving table. And since Thanksgiving is really all about the food and loved ones, there shouldn’t be much worry on making it a show stopping affair. A more rustic, simply put together look always looks more charming in my opinion. I literally put this Thanksgiving table in 20 minutes, which is perfect when setting the table and decor are the last thing on your mind leading up to the big day. It took me longer to iron my linens, so before the craziness ensues in the kitchen, take some time now to pick your linens and serving ware, that way it’s ready to go and all you have to do is place your decorative pieces in the center along with the main display, the food. And don’t panic, Thanksgiving is meant to be enjoyed, so make sure to keep these Thanksgiving essentials and tips in mind these next few days for a stress-free holiday.

Layer family heirloom linens and laces. Since the day is spent with loved ones, a certain fabric or cloth might spark a memory and conversation.

Grab your fine china, this is the only season you get to put those beautiful piece to use. My parents never use theirs, and I love the emerald and gilded edged plates. Pair a bold or statement plate, with a solid white and textured plate for a lovely contrast.

Flowers are always beautiful, but can become pricey and limited when bought last minute during the holidays. For a quick, yet statement centerpiece, pick uniquely shaped branches, and place in a clear vase.

No need for formalities, just fold a piece of fabric for a simple napkin, topped with a dusty miller leaf. For an easy place setting, go outside pick the largest leaf, and use a permanent marker to right each guest’s name onto it.

For most of fall I’ve kept my pumpkins as they were when I purchased them, but then quickly painted two coats of white and tan a few days ago when I brought them inside. I love quotes and words written on gourds, and since it’s all about giving thanks, I used a gold paint marker to write a thankful message on the largest pumpkin, as a lovely reminder when guests arrive.

Candles always make the ambience more cozier, but they can also distract from the meal. Two unscented tapers, in a soft burnt orange, at the end of the table are the perfect pop to the neutral table scape without being obstrusive.
