You would think that, given my age (let's just say I grew up with Thundercats) and the fact that I work at a shoe workshop, I would have become proficient at tying my shoes. I sure thought so. The fact that my laces came untied while walking from time to time just seemed like a natural occurrence. I long ago fell into the habit of tying double knots to keep loose laces to a minimum and thought nothing of it... until today.
Elf Hava came into the shop earlier this week very excited to say that we've all learned to tie our shoes incorrectly. A friend of hers connected her with an online TED video that explained the error of our ways as well as a "corrected" method.
Maybe I'm just a natural skeptic, or maybe on some level I took offense at the accusation that I have not yet mastered this basic life skill, but I was more than ready to shrug off her suggestion. And then I saw the video.
