Here are several amazing game rooms to inspire your own recreation room or basement remodeling project. The first room, pictured above, is designed around several traditional gaming elements, notably pool and board games. There is a lot of traditional wood, and rich brown colors. Old board game boards, including Carrom boards, are hung on the wall as part of the decor. 9 Outstanding Game Rooms Industrial Media Room by Calgary Home Media Design & Installation K&W Audio

This game room takes an entirely different approach. The industrial theme and wall of flat-screen televisions and Xbox 360s creates the ideal environment for the owners’ passionate love of competitive FPS video gaming. Unlike many gaming rooms, this one is all about creating the ideal environment for a single recreational activity.

This room uses rich burgundy and browns to re-create a lounge or casino environment. Note the range of gaming implements, from the 4-person game table, slot machines, full size dexterity games as well as video games in the corner. The built-in bench seating on side provides a welcome place for spectators, or players taking a break.

This basement game room again has the rustic wood and brick look, but with a splash of blue in the ceiling and walls. Pinball, foosball, and pool, traditional pub games, provide the entertainment while the decor reinforces the idea of a pub in the home.

The multi-TV display makes for keeping up on everyone’s favorite sports while having a drink together.

In addition the the wood elements, which are prevalent in game rooms, there is a great deal of stone in this room, both in the floor and the texturing of the ceiling.

Contemporary Family Room by Laguna Beach Architects & Designers Harte Brownlee & Associates Interior Design This room combines the traditional gaming environment with the straight lines of contemporary styling – note in particular the use of rectangles and squares, and the simple style of the pool table in the center. The lighting is more dynamic in this room, with a softer, warmer light for the main area and a brighter nook on the side.

Traditional Basement by Buffalo Architects & Designers Murphy & Co. Design My immediate thoughts on seeing this game room is that it very much looks like a hobbit-hole. The rounded archways light earthy colors, plus my own interest in the lore bring this to mind. What is also notable with this basement arrangement is the  use of a very long space, broken up into a gaming and arcade area, media center, and a table and chairs set up in another area of the same room.

The wood and brick is a lighter brown, making the whole atmosphere seem lighter, clean, and simple.
