Since discovering the Canopy and Stars website earlier this year I have become obsessed with their properties and the idea of Glamping. Earlier in the year I tested out a few glamping options in Scotland but I am yet to stay in an actual Canopy and Stars property – they all seem to be so busy and booked for many months in advance! Despite needing to be quick off the mark to book some of these accommodations, I absolutely love all of their different types of properties from tree-houses to shepherd’s huts. I often find myself lost on their site for hours looking at the fantastic places I could stay.
I also think glamping is one of the best ways to enjoy an adventure not far from home, these unique and fun properties offer a one of a kind experience, you wouldn’t expect from your home country.
Here are my 8 favorite options of quirky accommodation with Canopy and Stars
Budget £60-80
Carmen or Bella – Copper Beech Glade – Near Harrogate – England
This gypsy caravan is for 2 people and features a double bed in a typical red and green wagon. The interior in each is different however the size and layout is the same, both being a full size gypsy caravan means there is space to sit as well as the bed. There is a log cabin which provides a kitchen (shared between the two caravans) and a compost toilet and shower. The wagons are set around a camp fire and can either be hired out separately or as a whole camp.

Dawn of the Day – Hollow Ash – Herefordshire – England
This little shepherd’s hut is located in a idyllic rural setting. There is a cosy double bed inside a curtained off alcove and cute furnishings which makes the inside look like a little farm cottage, there is also a woodburner inside. This hut shares a compost toilet and shower with one other hut, however these are 150m away through the trees, giving you lots of privacy. The hut comes with a basket of fresh farm produce and some tea/coffee.

Waterfall Pagoda Yurt – Ty Cefn Tregib – Brecon Beacons – Wales
This little yurt is situated right by a waterfall and is described as tranquil. Tucked away behind the trees you have your own private area and deck which looks over the water. This yurt is based on the traditional Mongolian ones and was hand made and designed by the owners. The inside features a large double bed, well equipped kitchen including oven and separate shower and toilet.

Mid-Range £100-120
The Arc – The Island – Cambridgeshire – England
I could not have written a better description : ‘The Arc cabin is magical; homespun yet contemporary. There’s a unique style to the bright fabrics, and more than a hint of design about the finishing touches: an iPod dock and original artwork on the walls bring the beautiful weathered furniture, well-thumbed novels and crocheted rugs up to date’ Canopy and Stars. This property features a kind size bed and full kitchen.

The Loveland Pod – Loveland Farm – North of Bude – England
This little pod is a very stylish and fashionable way to go camping, this geodome was inspired by hanging pods in trees in Canada. The pod comes complete with wifi and a projector for your own personal movie night. This super light and spacious pod can sleep up to 6 however there is only one double bed and the rest of the sleeping space is from pull out futons. There is a separate compost toilet and shower as well as some gas hobs for cooking on.

Splash Out £175-200
Monbazillac Treehouse – Châteaux dans les Arbres – nr Bergerac – France
This treehouse is maybe the fanciest of all of these properties, it is also the only one located abroad on my list. This treehouse is modelled on a traditional château and sits high up among the trees. This is one of four tree houses at the location, Monbazillac has a hot tub on the decking outside and is the smaller of the four. A stay here includes breakfast and access to a communal pool.

Brockloch Treehouse – Brockloch Farm – Dumfries & Galloway – Scotland
This property is new to the list and features a contemporary and modern design. The treehouse features a double bed and sunken bath, both with skylights above for some evening stargazing, the rest of the place is lit by tiny square windows across the wall. There is a kitchen, compost toilet and woodburner to keep you cosy all year around. The treehouse is also powered by solar panels, so you’ll still be able to charge your phone.

51 Beach View – Priory Bay – Isle of Wight – England
This is the most expensive option of these all, but just look at the inside and I’m sure you’ll see why. Beautifully decorated interior as well as a gorgeous sea view outside. This yurt is one of a few dotted around the Priory Bay Hotel, surrounded by trees and not far from the beach. There is a bathroom attached to this property including a free standing bath however there are no cooking facilities.

Glamping is a great way of having a ‘backyard’ adventure and even looking at these properties has me excited for travel, even though they are mostly located in the UK. If you would like to know any more about each property then click the link for it and you should find all the information you need. I also found that while I was playing with the booking sheet some properties have a minimum of 2 or 3 nights stay, most of the ones featured here have limited availability for the first 4-6 months of 2015 and if you are booking 10 weeks or more in advance then you can secure your booking with a deposit.
