With Steam, Valve not only connected gamers across all platforms including Windows, MacOS and Linux, but they also made gaming much easier for us to manage across multiple computers and opened up a paradise for indie game developers. Of course they also made a fortune selling games, and has big plans for the future of gaming as well. A lot of PC gamers are already familiar with this massive platform full of great games. Although, many of those gamers doesn’t know that they don’t have to pay cash every time to play a good game. Check out some of the best games I’ve found on Steam that let’s you play for free.
PlanetSide 2
Even though this was released back in 2012, it’s still one of the best games you can find on Steam. PlanetSide 2 is a free-to-play MMO that takes you to an alien planet where a whole lot of shooting, driving tanks takes place in a stunningly detailed environment with amazing gameplay physics.
DOTA 2
No introduction needed for this massively popular action and strategy game. You may have already heard about it, but if you haven’t, this is a game is being played by millions of gamers around the world. Go try it out, you’ll get addicted to it instantly. Check out the amazing gameplay video here.
Loadout
If you’ve played Borderlands, you’re gonna love this one. Loadout is a multi-player shooter that’s all about guns and shooting your friends (I mean in the game). You get to make your own unique weapons by combining parts and test them out in the field. The fun never ends in this awesome game.
Cannons Lasers Rockets
This is a newly released game. I haven’t played it yet but the game has received good feedback from gamers. It’ll be perfect for you if you love flying spaceship across galaxies and shooting laser canons to destroy each other. Free version of the game gives you only two spaceships to select from. You can pay to get more features if you want.
Governor of Poker 2
A game list wouldn’t be perfect without some gambling games. Governor of Poker 2 is a highly rated poker game that lets you virtually play your favorite casino game. The game is not entirely free, but you can download and play the demo for free, which includes hours of game play. However if you’re feeling a little reckless and like to bet some real money, you can check out an online casino (for example Maple Casino).
Tribes: Ascend
Want to play Halo for free? Here it is. Well, it’s not exactly halo, but this is actually better than Halo because this game has jetpacks. That’s right, Tribes Ascend is an online multiplayer FPS with jetpacks. Things can’t get any better than that. And look at those gorgeous graphics. I can’t believe this game is free to play.
No More Room in Hell
Try and play this game at night with lights off. No More Room in Hell is a super-scary horror game that will give you nightmares. Inspired by the popular film series, the game brings you scares in several great game modes including Co-op, survival and realistic mode that just makes playing this game almost impossible. If you’re up for a great horror game, look no further.
