6 Effortless Hairstyles for Naturally Curly Locks

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

Taming unruly and unpredictable curls takes a lot of work. However, a solid set of tried-and-true products, along with effortless hairstyles, can keep your naturally curly locks frizz-free and healthy all day long.

We've put together six quick and easy hairstyles for curly-haired beauties.

1. Top Knot

If you need to be somewhere but don't have enough time to style your curls, you can do a top knot. You'll be out of your house in no time and off to wherever you need to be. You just need a good hair tie and a few bobby pins to put everything together.

Start by putting your hair up in a high ponytail, then divide it into two sections. Take the top half and wrap it around the ponytail to make a bun. Use your bobby pins to keep it in place. Do the exact same thing using the remaining half to get a nice and neat bun.

2. Side Braid

Let's say you just washed your hair and treated it with a coconut oil hair mask. One of the easiest styles you can do when your curls are as defined as ever is a simple side braid. Use your curl-enhancing spray to give your locks more volume. Make sure it gets all over your tresses while damp, then let it air dry before styling it.

You can part your curls naturally, leaving a small section of hair from one side of your head for the braid. Start braiding your hair until you reach the crown of your head. Once done, you can use a bobby pin to secure it. Pull the top layers of your tresses to hide the pins.

3. Sleek Ponytail

Even with curls, you can have a sleek ponytail moment. Slick your tresses back using products meant to tame frizzy hair, brushing them into a tight, snatched ponytail. As for your curls, you should let them air dry before brushing them with a teasing comb. It will add volume to your tresses, making them look big and bouncy.

4. Pineapple Updo

There are plenty of ways to keep your curls defined. For one, you can start sleeping on satin pillowcases. Putting your hair up in a pineapple updo can also keep the frizz at bay and your curls defined when you're sleeping. However, the look is so cute that it's also worth sporting outside of your home.

Instead of an elastic band, use a scrunchie to prevent hair breakage. Tie your hair up in a high bun, then let the rest of your curls trickle down the side or front of your head to get a flirty, romantic look.

5. Space Buns

For a fun, playful look, try space buns. Part your hair into two equal parts, then create a pigtail for each section. You can place them on the crown of your head or as low as the side of your nape.

Take one ponytail then twist it around itself to form a bun. Keep the bun in place using a few bobby pins. You can do the exact same thing for the other side.

6. Messy Half-Bun

Whether you have beach waves, loose spirals, or coily hair, you can get away with a messy half-bun. It's one of the easiest styles you can do. Plus, it's very versatile. From casual gatherings to formal occasions, you can put your curls in a messy half-bun. To get the look, you need to put your hair up in a high ponytail. Wrap it around itself before twisting it towards the base of your bun. Using a few bobby pins, secure the bun and other rogue strands of hair.
