Please note that although the Reuters news report below does not say it, there is good reason to believe that at least some of the Chinese companies purchasing U.S. residential and now, also commercial, real estate are state-owned entities, including those owned by the People's Liberation Army.

As America's middle class declines, many with their homes still under water or in foreclosure, foreigners are buying up U.S. real estate.
Already the 2nd largest foreign buyer of our residential real estate, China is now moving into buying our commercial real estate, with purchases in billions of dollars.
And guess what? Our embassy in China is encouraging the buying! -- by actually sponsoring "forums" to promote Chinese "investment" in U.S. property.
