When you have children, it can be hard to fit a full time
job around childcare, and very often the cost of this childcare can make it
financially unviable for you to return to work. An alternative to returning to
full time work is to find a way to earn money from home and there are a number
of options that may be available to you.
1. Direct selling
Lots of direct selling
companies will pay you commission for selling their products to family and
friends. It may help if you sign up with a company that sells products which
you have an interest in because if you are enthusiastic about the products then
you will find it easier to sell them.
2. Be a consultant
Setting up a consultancy
business can be a rewarding career that you are still able to fit around caring
for your children. This still allows you to be flexible with the hours that you
work but you can earn a fairly good income from this type of career. Even if
you have people that are working for you, payroll and HR can be managed from
home using software that is available from sites such as www.ciphr.com.
3. Selling unwanted items
If you have unwanted items
that you no longer use then selling these can help you raise a bit of extra
cash. This can be done via yard sales or online as there are a number of sites
where you can list items for sale in your local area. The disadvantage of this
method is that you may run out of things to sell, but if you have younger
children then you will find that they grow out of clothes quite quickly so this
should provide you with items that you can use to raise money for a while at
least.
4. Write a blog
You don't need to have a lot
of technical knowledge to set up a blog and there are a number of blogging
platforms that you can use for free. There are several ways that you can earn
an income from blogging, but you will be able to earn more if your blog is
popular and has a large number of readers. Therefore it is important to base
your blog on something that you know a lot about, so you can keep on generating
interesting content.
5. Sign up for survey sites
There are many sites online
that will reward you for taking surveys about the various products and services
that you may use on a daily basis. Some of these sites pay cash, while others
may offer vouchers or other incentives. Be wary of sites that require you to
pay a fee in order to receive surveys, as there are a wide range of sites that
you can sign up to for free.
You may be able to use more than one of these methods to
earn some extra money while you are at home with your children. The amount of
work that you choose to do will largely depend on how much money you are
looking to earn. It is not always easy to set aside specific times of the day
that you can spend working, but the more effort that you put into most of these
methods, the more earning potential you will have.
