5 Ways to Create the Perfect Vanity Space

A vanity should be stylish yet functional. The purpose of it is to serve as a place for you to get ready. Having your vanity as a dual purpose space can be useful. Making it unique to you is important because this is where you will spend most of your time getting ready on a daily basis.

Traditional & Chic

This vanity is more on the traditional side. It is symmetrical, but the shape of the chair slightly breaks up the symmetry. Putting your vanity near a large window will give it a good balance of natural light and artificial light.

Play with Shape

The wallpaper alone makes this vanity stand out, it adds a certain uniqueness to it. The vanity is wall mounted and fits perfectly into the nook. The play of shapes adds character. The vertical and horizontal elements are on the wall while the circular elements like the ottoman and rug are on the floor. The mix between the geometric shapes adds a fun feel and gives the space variety.

Keep It Simple

Simplicity goes a long way. You can never go wrong with white as it matches just about everything. The fur chair is perfect because it adds softness and gives the space a delicate feminine feel.

Lighting tip: Mounting sconces on the side of the mirror instead of mounting it at the top of the mirror. Mirror sconces mounted at the top create dark shadows on your face.

Add a Pop of Color

Adding a little color can definitely help bring the space together. One small addition like the chair picture is just the right amount of color. If you're going to have your vanity in front of a window like this add curtains and a lamp. You want to be able to control the natural light and artificial light.

Use Makeup as Your Decor

There are some people who like to see their makeup on display. Believe it or not, makeup on display can be used in lieu of accessories. The circular mirror, the chair and the fur throw break up the sharpness. You don't want to overwhelm your space with too many rectilinear objects and the same can be said for circular objects. Creating a harmonious balance in geometry is essential to having functional designed space.
