5 Tips to Strengthen Your Immunity Naturally

The immune system is a boon to the human body, without it, one cannot live. It plays a vital role in human body function. In other words, it does a fabulous job of defending the human body against disease-causing factors. Though sometimes it fails to perform its job effectively as the resistance power is not the same in all. Some people have a very strong immune system while some are there with a weaker one. So, it is very important for all to boost the immune system to get a healthy life. But one should note that it is not an occasional project to perform but a daily habit to be built.
To boost the immune system we should start these habits in our daily routine as these are the natural, safe and effective ways:

Eat more whole plant foods:

You can get the nutrients from food, in particular, whole plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices. These are essential to keeping your immune system functioning properly. You can add Citrus fruits in your daily diet which contains vitamin C, which helps to increase the production of white blood cells. Popular citrus fruits like Lemon, Orange, and Grapefruits should be taken daily. We can also add cruciferous vegetables that have a special chemical composition that gives beneficial effects on several types of cancer. Regular consumption of broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and leafy vegetables like spinach and kale keeps us disease-free as they contain antiviral and antibacterial agents. In the same way fruits like pomegranate, apple, banana, blueberry, pineapple, and kiwi provide vitamins and minerals to our body. Studies have found that spices like turmeric, ginger, garlic, and other herbs can modulate the activation of different types of immune cells. So we can use spices like Turmeric, Coriander, Cumin and Garlic in our cooking every day.

Stay Hydrated:

Drinking enough water on a daily basis is essential for the best function of the immune system. It also delivers nutrients to the cells and helps to remove toxins and wastes. Health surveys commonly say that we should drink 8-ounce glasses of water, which is about 2 liters. It is better to drink lukewarm water throughout the day to be fit and fine.

Daily practice of Yogasana, Pranayama, and Meditation:

Yogic activities give a holistic approach to the body. It works in three levels physical, mental, and spiritual. Daily 30 minutes of yoga asana like Tadasana, Viparita Karani, Bhujangasana, Surya namaskar, and pranayama makes the immune system stronger and also keeps diseases away. Meditation is also important to reduce stress and it improves concentration. So it is important to meditate a little bit every day.

Get Enough Sleep:

A good 7-8 hour rest per night can boost the immune system and fight infectious diseases. Sleep gives our body the time to rest and repair.

Step Out In The Sun:

Vitamin D is essential for the healthy functioning of the immune system as it helps the body to produce antibodies. So make a habit of walking in the sunlight for 10–15 minutes will ensure that enough Vitamin D is produced in the body.

Anything that’s a toxin can compromise your immune system, alcohol, cigarette smoking can affect your health. So control yourself from consuming toxins. With this little change in your diet and routine, you can ensure that your immune system is strong enough to protect you against any virus infection. Author: Subhra
