WIG HACKS #1 – ITCHY IRRITATED HAIRLINE
When you’re wearing wigs, especially hard lace wigs, they can shift and become itchy. They can irritate your hairline and even cause hair loss. If you don’t have a trusty wig band, you can try Monistat chaffing gel. Chaffing gel is used for anything that’s rubbing together and causing irritation. It can do the same for your hairline. Take a little on your finger and rub across your hairline – everywhere the lace is touching. It will help ease the irritation and itchiness so you can wear a wig comfortably.

WIG HACKS #2 – LIFTING, WON’T LAY FLAT LACE!
Now let’s talk soft lace. Soft lace synthetic wigs are sometimes hard to blend and/or lay flat. Don’t forget to check out my how to blend synthetic wigs and make them look natural. Ok, so. They tend to lift because the lace is so soft and light. Well…here’s a quick and easy fix. Eyelash adhesive. Use a dab and let it get tacky – the same way you would apply lashes. Once tacky, lay the lace on top and press it down. Hold it a couple seconds and the lace should lay flat. Definitely not as strong of a hold as lace front wig glue. But it will keep your synthetic lace wig laying flat for hours.
WIG HACKS #3 – MAKE PARTING LOOK NATURAL
In need of a nude wig cap for your synthetic wig? I can never find them at my local beauty supply store. I usually by them online at amazon (in bulk usually). It’s the only place I’ve been able to find them. But over time I’ve learned to improvise.
1) Concealer. Take your concealer in the area where you want the part to pop. Apply your concealer right there on top of your stocking cap. Then you can lay the wig part on top of it. Too messy? Then…
2) Bandaid. You know you have on hanging around. It just needs to be similar to your scalp’s skin tone. Apply your bandaid right there on top of your stocking cap. Then you can lay the wig part on top of it.
WIG HACKS #4 – GET RID OF TANGLES
Okay, so tangles. Wigs that tangle are annoying and hard to maintain at times. An easy hack to reduce or eliminate wig tangles is probably already in your hair routine. Use any type of hair serum that has silicone in it. It will help with tangling. I’ve been using Garnier Fructis Marvelous Oil Frizz Defy Serum. It’s a large bottle and will last a long time. I usually use about five pumps (depends on length and density of the wig) and apply it to the ends. Smooth it through and it will revitalize the unit and prevent tangles in your synthetic wigs.
WIG HACKS #5 – REFRESH DIRTY SMELLY WIGS
The next hack I have for you guys is for smelly wigs. Or simply keeping your wig smelling fresher. Wearing synthetic wigs can get sweaty. Between the stocking cap and the wig bands and the wig itself, it can get very humid underneath. Oh, not to mention smelly too. I got 2 words for you: fabric sheets. Take the sheets and put it inside the cap when you store synthetic wigs. Now when you put on your wig, it will smell nice and fresh. Your wigs will be fresher longer. Extra perk! You’ll get a whiff of freshness whenever you put on your wig. Win. Win.
