5* review for Juha Roisko’s photography book LIFE"The title of the book by Juha Roisko, LIFE, has made me curious! Yet my sympathy and appreciation for his publication started at the dedication line already, which reads "To all victims and survivors of abuse and cruelty" ... And I did not need any third invitation to get interested in his works! What happened next was truly surprise after surprise: The book consisting of about 100 photographs divided into appropriate chapter themes and each photograph given an even more appropriate title (some of them almost a punch line), is not just another collective book displaying photos, images, moments, what-have-you - it is much more! It is the reflection of one very sensitive and thus attentive, ruthlessly human mind, who is willing to give back to the viewer one of the most important things in our disjointed, fast-moving, superficial everyday world: PEACE! Ergo LIFE.

"Every moment of LIFE captured may have a clear meaning, a metaphor, a message, a lot of room for further interpretation, communication and connection, and yet still at least one other dimension is added to all of them: each moment of LIFE captured by Juha Roisko offers the viewer an island of calm, an island of peace, the possibility to withdraw from the world and rest and reflect oneself or simply just dwell upon the rare attention shared and drift away - for me it was impossible to just flicker through the pages. Hurried Relaxation and Why had a tremendous impact on me, similar to reading outstanding, more-dimensional poetry - and I dare to think that most photographs displayed in Juha Roisko's collection were meant to provoke "communication" and "connection" like a song, lyric or poem - most notably anything offered here is free from prejudice and judgment. LIFE is an invitation, a treasure, a tribute to the open-minded human heart. LIFE, in all its individual facets, has been really captured - thank you very much, Juha Roisko!" - by Maik Hermann.
