5 Quick Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks

Spring’s just around the corner, and it’s almost time to dust off the weight of the past seasons and welcome the new year into your home with a fresh approach. Here are five quick tips to help you get started with your spring cleaning:

●   Come up with a gameplan – You need to figure out what needs to be done before you actually start. List down areas of concern, and what you think should be done to clean it. This would help you stay on track, and would help you cover all bases. You should take notes every time you start cleaning an area, to be able to identify what else needs to be done. Also make a cleaning schedule, so you can clean without neglecting other tasks and errands. Doing this actually helps you save time and get you to accomplish more.

●   Get your cleaning tools ready – Make sure that your cleaning arsenal is fully loaded — it wouldn’t hurt to be prepared to deal with everything you could encounter while cleaning your home. It makes the cleaning process more efficient and convenient for you. You wouldn’t want to have to run out to the store in the middle of cleaning just because you don’t have what you need.

●   Be determined to declutter – A considerable accumulation of clutter comes with the changing of the seasons, and spring cleaning means you’d have to sort through it. The thing with clutter is that it’s pretty tricky: we often think we’d like to keep something, when we have no actual use for it. So before you start cleaning, you should get down to business, and decide to get rid of all your extra stuff. Ask yourself if the item on hand is something you need, or something useful. If not, toss these into a box or container labeled “These Must Go” or something to that effect. You can donate these items, or even hold a garage sale with them.

●   Recruit the rest of the family – Cleaning an entire house is a huge task, even for the most efficient and the most industrious of people. Enlist the help of your family members. Involving them in this activity not only to make things easier for you, but it also lets them gain a better appreciation of your home.

●   Take things one room at a time – You don’t have to hurry through your spring cleaning. The point is to pay attention to each area, making sure everything is in order. A key to efficiency is focus, and being able to take your time and focus on what needs to be done in each area (dusting, waxing, repairs). The whole thing could take about a week, depending on the size of your house, and on your working schedule.
