Looking for something a little different for your wedding ceremony music? We’ve discussed new ideas for the processional (walking in) and the recessional (walking out). Today we thought we’d cover “interludes” those times during the ceremony where something else is going on but a little music would be helpful, for example the Unity Candle or Sand Ceremony. Interlude music can also be used to transition between sections of the service. Keep in mind though that you don’t want the music to drag the ceremony out.

If you are getting married in a church or other house of worship make sure to discuss your music selections with your officiant. He or she may need to approve any secular music. Keep in mind too that you can always use instrumental versions of songs if the lyrics aren’t quite church  (or wedding) appropriate. Interlude music can also be a great place to use those songs that you and your partner couldn’t agree on for the first dance.

1. Kind and Generous – Natalie Merchant
2. One and Only – Adele
3.  #34 – Dave Matthews Band
4. We Are Gonna Be Friends – White Stripes
5.  Angel – Chaka Khan
