5 Link Building Techniques That Activate the Google Penguin Filter

Posted on the 11 April 2014 by Milanbgd

In this article we will present you the 5 types of link building techniques that are used often, and it is not very wise to use them. The stated techniques are definitely problematic and they certainly activate the filter. Let’s go…

1. “SEO” directories

Applying into so called “SEO” directories and with an exact anchor text. For example, if I would pay for my domain (mbseoservice.com) some stated package in such directories with an anchor text for “search engine optimization service” or “affordable SEO service for small business” that would be a very bad move. The main reason is that these directories are of bad quality and they are made exclusively for Google, and because that they are bad links, and the way of using anchor text would be completely unnatural. Also, anchor text would be used quite often considering that there are hundreds of those directories. Later, it is very difficult to nicely ask the owners of those directories to remove your applications.

2. Comments on blogs

Massively leaving comments on blogs that are not thematically linked to your content with exact anchor texts. For example, if I would leave a comment on a blog for beauty and fashion with the anchor text “affordable SEO service” and repeated that a few dozen of hundred times that would be a very bad move. Commenting on blogs is allowed, but you are supposed to write your name when giving comments, and not an anchor text. Also, it is completely unnatural to have a few dozen links with the fitting anchor text on blogs that have nothing to do with the content of your pages. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you can’t comment anything on those blogs, you can, but state your name and link. If you really want to be safe, don’t put a link either.

3. Forum profiles

Massively creating forum profiles with exact anchor texts. This situation is completely identical to the one with massively commenting on blog that are thematically not linked to the content of your pages.

4. Exchanging links

Exchanging links from domains that have thematically nothing to do with the content of your pages with fitting anchor texts. Exchanging links with your business partners, friends and similar is completely normal, but don’t use the fitting anchor text to much.

5. Footer links

Footer links from domains that have thematically nothing to do with the content of your pages with the fitting anchor texts. Many portals like to be connected with other similar portals which is OK, but if you are going to use fitting anchor texts you will probably have a problem.

All 5 link building techniques could and probably will activate the Penguin filter if you have used them a bit more. Later, many things won’t be fixable because the owners of the domains won’t bother helping you and wasting their time fixing things. So be careful what you do. Otherwise, you will have an almost unsolvable problem that can and will cause you huge amounts of trouble. So, if you don’t want to struggle, we suggest you follow the tips we gave here and don’t overdo it one the techniques above, if possible, don’t use them at all.
