5 Items to Survive the Italian Autumn

Let me begin this post by saying that my camera broke and still needs at least two weeks before it's repaired and all of the photos in this post have been taken with my phone....so they're not the best! But I've been sharing a lot of "daily outfit" photos on Instagram and a theme has been coming through...namely my Autumn Uniform!

I've been living in a few key items that have made dressing for the damp, humid, rainy, sunny and chilly Italian Fall easier than I thought. I've basically kept in rotation these 5 items non-stop, and I'm coming up with some of my favorite outfits ever!

N°1 - The Beret

Has everybody heard that the beret is back and not just for Paris shopping trips in Saint Germain! It is EVERYWHERE this Autumn thanks to Gucci, but also to many fashion bloggers and street style influencers who've realized that this is one hat that looks good on everyone. I have a Pinterest board dedicated to the trend here:

Follow reasonstodress's board The Beret is back again! TREND - beret Gucci Fall / Winter fw 2016/2016 . Hats for short hair! on Pinterest.

Throughout this post you'll see my berets making appearances all over the place. They were all bought in Paris, from the souvenir stands throughout the city at between 5 and 15 euro! And here are some of my absolute favorite street style looks with berets! You can expect me to be copying both outfits soon on the blog!!

N°2 - The Utility Jacket

Next summer I plan on visiting my sister on Canada's East Coast in the Summer. It will be chilly (for me) even though it will be the summer and I expect some rain and some cool nights, so I started hunting during the sales for a jacket for next year and found this Zara jacket with removable interior vest on sale for 20 euro! It is a coated cotton, so it is relatively waterproof, has tons of useful pockets, a big hood and one of my best purchases this season.

N°3 - A Denim Jacket

I've basically been rotating my utility jacket with this 80s inspired denim jacket from SheIn. Ididn't realized how much my wardrobe was missing a simple denim jacket until this arrived! You can also see it style here with a full review of the jacket. This is just a small sample of the many "fast" outfits that this jacket has helped me create, perfect for school runs, errands or taking an office look to the playground in exactly 1 second!

N°4 - An Oversized Sweater with Leggings

Call it what you will.... a jumper, a sweater or an oversized knit - it serves its purpose....to cover your butt when you leave the house in leggings!! I'm almost always in leggings at home, they are my version of comfortable house clothes that don't involve yoga pants! Plus, they are surprisingly easy to style! This outfit combination has combined two of my favorite things full-body unitards/leggings with used men's sweaters!

N°5 Scarves

This is no secret. I've talked on a few different occasions about the importance of scarves in Italy, where a sudden breeze can leave you with a chill that may cause any number of sicknesses!! They say that the fastest way to take "putting on some clothes" to "putting together an outfit" is to add a third piece, in my situation a scarf is a fast, practical, cheap and versatile third piece!

This season I also thought I would fully embrace the Russian inspired textile trend that is just starting up now, but will continue into 2016, by styling this scarf that was a gift!

If you're interested in the trend I have a board dedicated to it on Pinterest! Follow reasonstodress's board F/w 2015 / 2016 TREND - russia style on Pinterest.

And that's it. I love to look back on what I was wearing exactly a year ago to see how my style is changing and I must say I still like everything I wore last year, but some of these new entires, especially the denim, have made dressing for Italy's unpredictable Fall MUCH easier!
Now onto YOUR style...
