5 Great Home Remedies For Acne

Acne is a type of skin condition that develops when your pores get clogged with dead skin cells and oil. This provides an ideal environment for bacteria, resulting in the formation of whiteheads and pimples. Some acne cases tend to be more severe than others, but the associated symptoms are always pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. It is a very common skin condition (affecting nearly 10% of the world's population) that can impact people of all ages, but is especially widespread among teenagers.

However, this is not to say that acne is untreatable. People can use many different methods to remedy the situation and prevent any future breakouts. But it all starts with caring for your skin. This post will shed some more light on some common home acne treatment methods that everyone can use.

1. Apply diluted apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains some organic acids that may be instrumental in killing acne-causing bacteria. However, applying it directly to your skin may easily cause irritation, so be sure to first mix 1 part of apple cider vinegar with 3 parts water. After you cleanse your skin, you can apply the diluted mixture using a cotton ball and let it sit for about 15 seconds then rinse off with water and pat your skin dry.

3. Applying green tea to your skin
4. Moisturize with Aloe vera

This substance contains strong anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. That is why it is an excellent home acne treatment. There have been numerous studies that have shown that the application of 5% tea tree oil on your skin will reduce acne symptoms. However, you should note that this essential oil is very potent, and you should dilute it first before use. Mix 1 part tea tree oil together with 9 parts water, then use a cotton swab to spot treat your skin. After you are done, you can apply a moisturizer.

Green tea is known to contain very high levels of antioxidants, which are crucial in reducing inflammation and fighting bacteria. The application of green tea to one's skin has been proven to reduce acne. Studies showing the effects of drinking green tea on your skin are a bit limited, but using it topically helps a great deal. You just need to steep green tea in boiling water for around 5 minutes then allow it to cool. You can now use a cotton ball or a spray bottle to apply it on your skin, allow it to dry and rinse it off.

Aloe vera is a tropical plant, which, when applied to the skin, can help treat burns and fight inflammation, as well as acting as a moisturizer- making it an excellent treatment for acne-prone skin. The presence of sulfur and salicylic acid is what makes it a good option for treating acne. All you need to do is scrape the gel from the plant with a spoon and apply it directly to your skin and repeat the process twice daily.

Witch hazel is used to treat a wide range of skin conditions like eczema, bruises, acne, and insect bites because of its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties - a result of the tannins it contains. You should mix 1 tablespoon of witch hazel bark with 1 cup of water in a tiny saucepan then leave it to soak for approximately 30 minutes and boil it. You can leave it to simmer while covered for 10 minutes. You should then allow the mixture to sit for around 10 minutes before straining it into a container. Use a cotton ball to apply it to your skin twice daily.

Acne is often caused by several factors, and conventional treatments often lead to dryness, irritation, and redness. However, most home remedies like those discussed here are very effective in treating acne. You should give them a try.
