5 Effective Home Remedies for Healthy and Glowing Skin

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

Home remedies are often the best way to get flawless skin and the most affordable too. From papaya peels to potato or lemon juice, there are a lot of things you can use on your skin and many of these ingredients are readily available right in your kitchen.

Of course, there are other spas and sauna treatments that you can find if you run a search on how to improve your skin in a full spectrum infrared sauna. However, here are a couple of do-it-yourself face masks that you can try for healthy and glowing skin:

Raw Potato Face Mask

Mash raw potato finely after grating it and apply on your face evenly like a pack. Wait for a few minutes until it dries up and wash with lukewarm water. This will give you glowing skin, if you apply it regularly. You can also cut the potato into thin slices and keep them on your eyes for a while to get rid of the dark circles under your eyes.

Honey and Cinnamon Face Mask

Add one tablespoon of cinnamon powder to three tablespoons of Manuka honey. Mix it well and microwave it for about 30 seconds. Allow it to cool and then apply it on your face. You can rinse your face with cold water after 10 minutes. This is a great homemade mask to try if you are suffering from acne. If you have dry skin, you can moisturize your face by applying fresh Aloe Vera pulp after washing.

Turmeric and Lemon Mask

The Turmeric-Lemon mask is an excellent mask to remove tan and treat your blemishes. Add a tablespoon of turmeric and the juice of a lemon into a tablespoon of curd and mix it well. Apply the paste thoroughly on your face and leave it for about 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water and pat dry with a clean towel. Both turmeric and lemon are natural antioxidants and great skin brighteners.

Tomato Juice-Lemon Mask

If you have blackhead prone skin, this is something you should try. Blend a tomato into juice and add to it, a few drops of lemon juice. Now apply it on your face evenly. Let it dry for about 15 minutes. Rinse your face using lukewarm water. You can also use tomato slices to massage your blackhead prone area. For best results do this regularly.

Milk plus Honey Mask

This mask of honey and milk can give you that flawless glow you have always been craving for. While milk moisturizes your skin and prevents acne, honey heals and brightens your skin.

  • Mix one tablespoon of Manuka honey with two tablespoons of milk
  • Stir it till you get a creamy consistency
  • Dip a cotton ball into this mixture and then use it to apply it on your skin in circular motion
  • After about 10 minutes wash your face with cold water. You can use a mild face wash if your skin is sensitive
  • Massage gently and pat dry your face with a clean towel
  • Apply a toner or moisturizer to moisturize your face as required

Applying a moisturizer is very important after washing off the face mask. Use a moisturizer that contains tea tree oil, jojoba oil, or any other essential oil that can improve your skin texture and mask your imperfections. Never apply tea tree oil directly on your face. You have to mix it with a carrier oil before applying.
