5 Days Off: Amsterdam Goes Electro!

By Amsterdam City Tours

5 Days offAt the beginning of March, from 5 to 9 March 2014, 5 Days Off is an important cultural meeting with a reputation reaching far across the borders, giving its young public five days of nightclubbing, live shows and performances. The 5-day indoor festival sees established names share the stage with upcoming talent in the field. Groups of musicians and visitors from all over Europe and the United States arrive in Amsterdam to participate in this electronic music festival. Inspired by Belgium's 10 Days Off, the festival features the very best in the fields of electronic music, art and media art.  Since 2001, the organization puts together a program which contains a strong mix of acknowledged names and upcoming talents from the Netherlands and abroad. In 2014 you can catch big beats and wonky synths from the likes of Darkside (featuring Nicolas Jaar), Scottish producer Rustie, pianist Nils Frahm (who bridges classical, ambient and dance music), and German minimalist Marek Hemmann… Five nights in a row, the best artists will be performing in Amsterdam.

Before the nighttime program kicks off, the festival presents an Art program in De Balie. This is a diverse side program that gives a platform to other art disciplines like film, photography, media art, graphic design, fashion, and lifestyle. To help clubbers take a seat every once in a while, the festival also presents an art programme in Melkweg's Gallery, as well as inspirational films and docs in the Melkweg Cinema.

5 Days Off is located in the heart of the city Amsterdam, around the Leidseplein: Melkweg, Paradiso and De Balie are all festival locations. Address: Kleine Gartmanplantsoen 10, 1017 RR Amsterdam.
