5 Blow Drying Hacks You Need To Try Today

By Khadija Beauty @khadijabeauty3

Very few people can work with wet hair effortlessly. So they turn to hair dryers for help and, in turn, further the damage to their locks. It’s the go-to fix for the mornings you’re running late and the nights you’re in a hurry, so here’s a list of five blow-drying hacks you need to try today! Hopefully, these save you time and decrease some of the damage.

Microfiber Towel

Before reaching for your hairdryer, consider a microfiber towel wrap while doing other things. This process can remove moisture and cut down on time spent under the heat.

The less exposure to direct heat, the less damage you will face. Microfiber is super absorbent with minor damaging effects, making it the perfect post-shower hair wrap while you get dressed or apply makeup.

Invest in the Right Brush

Typically, you begin the drying process with a good brush out and airflow, but if you are using the wrong brush, it can extend the time you need to apply heat. Everyone has left the house only to find a clump of wet hair on the back of their head.

Chances are, this means you’re not using a brush made for your hair type. A flat-backed brush will retain moisture, and a ceramic vented brush creates better airflow, so when you rough dry your hair, the brush you use makes a difference.

Try Rollers

Using rollers is a fantastic blow-drying hack you need to try today! This process gives hair extra volume and doesn’t take long to do. You’ll start with rolling sections of your hair and applying a shower cap.

Gently pull the cap to one side and blow low heat through the base of the cap to create a dome-like effect over your rollers. The heat will fill the cap and set your curls. This is an excellent hair hack, especially if you have extensions you can style with heat and want to extend their lifecycle.

Natural Waves

A variation of the roller effect is a natural wave blow-dry. For this process, take small to medium sections of roll, braid or twist them into a knot, and pin them in place. Then, using low heat, again, run it across each knot until they feel mostly dry. The knotted natural wave blow-dry is simple, effective, and makes you feel like you’re still maintaining moisture.

Monitor the Heat

Lastly, monitor the heat settings and usage. If you’re not into twisting and rolling, that’s OK because it’s just extra work. But monitor the heat settings. It might make sense to blast the heat to finish your hair quickly, but it’s not worth it as it will strip your hair of natural oils and shine.

That’s all for blow-drying hacks. Hopefully, some of these tips and tricks keep you on the go and help you decrease heat damage.
