4 Eyeshadow Palettes Worth the Splurge

As a woman with melanin, I can say that finding an eyeshadow that actually shows up on my lids unassisted (without an eyeshadow primer) is quite hard. For a while, I took it as my lot in life and learned to work with what I've got. That was until I was introduced to the right brands!

The reality is high pigment is important no matter what your skin tone is. While people with fairer complexions have a better starting advantage, low pigment usually means lower quality for everyone. It doesn't last as long and does not pop whether you are a Reese Witherspoon or a Lupita Nyong'o.

As a makeup junkie, I tend to stockpile eyeshadow palettes, but the reality is you only need one for everyday wear. You can fill in with smaller palettes or single shadows if you want to add bolder colors to your collection.

Tarte

If you are seeking a neutral palette that has a few additional pops of color, this is the palette for you. It is buildable shadow that is perfect for everyday makeup looks. You can be as bold or subtle as you want to be.

Doucce

The Freematic Eyeshadow Pro Palette comes in three options: smokey, neutral, and unicorn special edition. At first try, these shadows do not seem super pigmented, but once you add a spritz of water to your shadow brush you will be shocked how bold the color is. You also have the option the build you own palette which gives you a complete say on the colors included.

Urban Decay

The Naked Eyeshadow palette is an oldie, but goodie for me. It is the perfect neutral palette to start out with. The colors are pigmented and any combination you choose will have a great pop. There are many variations of this palette though, so pick the one that feels right for.

Colourpop

The Shayla x Colourpop Perception palette is the cheapest palette on this list, but in my opinion the best. It is so highly pigmented it is insane. One swipe gets you full color! In addition to that, it lasts all day without creasing or fading. I love this palette because you can do a great neutral matte look, but there are also options to do vibrant colorful/metallic look. It's the best of both worlds. If this color combination does not feel like the right fit for you, then any of their other palettes will have the same qualities.

What eyeshadow palette do YOU use?
