4-0

4-0It has been a disaster area for the baseball teams I pull for in 2012. Spring Training for 2013 can't come soon enough.
It's football season now anyway.
I haven't written much about football so far this year, but it is finally time to turn more of my attention to it. And my boys from Notre Dame have bolted from the gate at 4-0 for the first time since 2002 with a 13-6 grind-it-out win over rival Michigan last night at South Bend.
It looked it was the "Turnover Bowl" last night, as both teams made many mistakes, but MIchigan made more. ND picked off five passes, four off  QB Denard Robinson. And two of them were by LB Manti Te'o, who was playing with a heavy heart after two recent deaths in his family.
Notre Dame switched quarterbacks in the second quarter, as Tommy Rees came on for the ineffective Everett Golson, who was picked off twice. It paid off immediate dividends as Rees ran in from two yards on what appeared to be a busted play which turned out to be the only TD of the game.
The Irish defense was the stars of the game, adding a fumble recovery to their five interceptions. It was also the second straight week they have not allowed a TD.
The Irish are off next week, and will play Miami in Chicago on October 6th.
