Welcome to Day 19! Today, I want to discuss fun things you can do with Washi Tape... One of my favorite mediums. You can use them (obviously) as flags, on packaging and your envelopes. Just a nice touch and the price has come down. Places like Marshall's and TJ Maxx sell multiple rolls at decent prices. Etsy has some great deals on Washi too...
If you have purchased some washi tape and it has just been sitting in a drawer still in its packaging somewhere, this blog is officially giving you permission to USE it this holiday season!
1. Packaging with Washi tape, bakers twine and kraft paper... The holidays are coming and wrapping packages with kraft paper is different and its also MORE FUN. Not to mention, based on the cost of kraft paper it will be much more affordable.
Grab a piece of kraft paper... I've seen it sold everywhere. From WalMart to Michael's to art supply stores. They sell it by the roll.
Find something to wrap. I just grabbed a book off the shelf.
Important: Use double-sided tape so that there is nothing showing once you close up the package.
I've got just a few rolls of washi tape lying about so I just grabbed this cute chevron pattern.
A few more... By the way, the dots go with EVERYTHING.
Take the tape and begin to affix it to your "naked" kraft package. I took it all the way around.
I found some orange bakers twine (you can find this in Marshall's now too, I'm not kidding its everywhere) and decided to couple it with the tape. Always a little more interesting...
Added some dotted wash tape (goes with everything I'm telling you) and a tag and you are ready to go!
Another option... I coupled some b/w washi tape with thin black ribbon... Start using some of this stuff that is just LYING around!
2. Decorative flags
You can add the washi tape to either paper straws or bakers twine and hang them as streamers... Such a cute look (think: showers).
Or you can add the streamer onto your packaging to make it even more decorative!
3. Don't forget your envelopes! Add a decorative strip to the backs of your envelopes when sending your holiday cards this year...
That's it for washi tape! Let me know some of the ideas you've used!
We'll be back tomorrow... --ct
