24 Australian Business Directories for Citation and Link Building

Posted on the 12 December 2013 by Onqmarketing @onqmarketing

Despite the fact that responsible SEO activity now includes creating valuable content and establishing a strong influence on social media, there is still room for what may be referred to traditional SEO.

Creating online citations and building and refining your inbound link profile will improve your Domain Authority and improve your search performance. But citation and link building is not a free-for-all like it was.

Australian Citations SEO
Citations should be consistent. Your Name, Address and Phone Number (NAP) as it is detailed on your website and Google Places (Google+ Local) should be exactly the same as all other citations (mentions of your business) right across the web. Old listings detailing old phone numbers and addresses are going to hurt.

Link building once one of the fastest ways to improve your search rankings is now a more refined art. You have to be mindful of your inbound link profile. If you’re an accountant and you have links coming form a dodgy weight-loss website, well that’s going to hurt too. You want links from sites that are valuable to users, are relevant to your business and are not practicing dodgy tactics themselves.

Expanding on the tips for citations and links is for another day. For today however, I want to provide a list of 25 Australian business directories that will be great to improve your search performance.

The quality of the business directory is going to influence the power that the listing achieves. The general theory is to have a diversified link profile but you really will prefer to have quality not quantity. The research can be consuming but this list has been vetted by us.

The key indicators of a quality directory include Domain Authority, Total Links, Followed Links, Linking Domains, Social Sharing, Domain Age and more.

These 24 directories are ranked in order of Domain Authority and include free and paid options.
