21 for 2021

21 for 2021

It's that time of year when we start thinking about our goals for the coming year. I don't know about you, but I have been thinking about 2021 for some time.
I could tell you 10 great reasons for why you shouldn't bother setting goals for 2021. Considering 2020 was the year of covid-19 and Quarantining, should we even bother setting goals? The answer to this question is YES, we should bother setting goals! We still have desires, we still have things we want to achieve in our lives, there are things we still want to do. We are creative beings, goals give us direction, and we are responsible for the lives we lead despite the craziness going on around us or the world.
It's time to get excited for the coming new year! We don't know what will happen with Covid, but we can still kick some butt, and make good decisions for our health, our relationships, our spiritual life, our jobs, our creativity, our marriages, our kids, our education, and so on.
I started using the concept of '21 for 2021′ a few years ago. I was introduced to the idea via a podcast I used to listen to - The 'Happier with Gretchen Rubin' podcast. I love the idea to goal setting each year, I find it brings a little excitement to the possibilities of what might happen in the next year! This year I am going to print out my goals and put them in a place where I know I will look at them often. I need to set up systems where I can succeed. As my mum says, "Make it fun, and it will get done!".
Okay, so what are my ' 21 for 2021' list of goals?
Here we go.

  1. Family Fun Day every month
  2. Bible, journal, devotions daily
  3. Date with Hubby every fortnightly.
  4. Catch up with friends/family once a month
  5. Pottery classes - monthly from February.
  6. Weekend away with hubby twice a year.
  7. Family weekends away.
  8. Do my udemy courses.
  9. Organise our family photos
  10. Organise our Family book - Wills, family paperwork, passwords, life information, recipes, photos.
  11. Declutter and simplify our home.
  12. Walking daily- 21 minutes for 2021
  13. Daily do diastasis exercises.
  14. Read for 21 minutes every day.
  15. Go to the beach 3 times per week.
  16. Print out family recipes for our folder.
  17. Take more photos - memory making.
  18. Healthy Happy You Detox plan
  19. Relook/update our budget, accountability spreadsheet
  20. Reunite with friends with friends in Brisbane.
  21. Write daily.
    2020 may not have been the year we planned, and 2021 also might be a challenging year - we have no idea what the coming year will bring.
    I am excited for a brand new year. As the new year rings in (no fireworks in our area) I will remember 2020 to be the year that it was - craziness, covid and lockdowns, but it is also the year of Nambour drop offs, pickups, homeschooling, growth, challenges, family, friends, and highs and a few lows. The lows stretched us and pushed us forward in so many ways. I am so proud of my kids for not giving up, not giving their responsibilities the flick when it all got too hard. Friendships made, and strengthened.
    This last year was successful despite the craziness. I have learned a lot about myself, we survived lockdown with everyone home,I was continually reminded that my faith in God is absolute. No matter what happens in this world, God remains the same, and when I found myself feeling out of sorts regarding what was going on around me, I would remember the prayer of serenity.
    "God grant me the serenity, to accept the things I cannot change;Courage to change the things I can;
    And wisdom to know the difference.
    Living one day at a time;
    Enjoying one moment at a time;
    Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
    Taking, as He did, this sinful world
    As it is, not as I would have it;
    Trusting that He will make all things right
    If I surrender to His Will;
    So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
    And supremely happy with Him
    Forever and ever in the next.
    Amen."
    Till next time,
    Chat soon,
    XO
