The Concert For Love & Acceptance is set to return to Nashville in 2019 on June 6 at the Wildhorse Saloon. The event, presented by GLAAD and Ty Herndon, will be co-hosted by CMT's Cody Alan and has three artists already lined up to perform.
Since it first hit the stage in 2015, the Concert for Love & Acceptance has welcomed LGBTQ artists and allies to come together in support of the community, while also showing off some great talent for the assembled audience. Artists including Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Tanya Tucker, Billy Gilman, Michael Ray, Cassadee Pope, and Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry Member, Terri Clark, have been involved, with more to come this year, and in the future. The GLAAD event page describes the concert as, "featuring a coalition of artists and celebrities appearing and performing to accelerate acceptance for LGBTQ people.". It's a goal that is both admirable, and necessary, and we're here for it.
This year co-hosts Herndon and Alan will be joined at the Wildhorse Saloon by country music LGBTQ trailblazer Chely Wright, rock and roll frontman Daughtry, and emerging singer-songwriter Harper Grae. Tickets start at $30 and are available now - Click Here!
The truth here is that none of GLAAD, Herndon, Alan, or any of the other performers at this event shouldn't have to be concerned with trying to further or accelerate acceptance for LBGTQ people in the country music community, or the community at large. In 2019 we still see people bullied, targeted, mistreated, and denied rights because of their sexual orientation and gender identity. We see inequality without basis. We see the need for change and acceptance and progress. And so we see people coming together to try to make that happen.
